Electroland

Faced with the prospect of losing his job, a hard-working computer sales employee realizes he's being stalked by his store's mascot.

Electroland is a surrealist horror film about James, a computer salesman. When he is nearly fired for refusing to upsell his customers, he soon finds himself the next victim of the store mascot, a big blue dog named Buster. As Buster grows closer and closer, James is forced to decide what matters more: keeping his job or keeping his soul.

The film is heavily inspired by my time working at Best Buy. The week I was hired, they cut 5,000 workers to boost profits, ignoring the effect this had on their employees. Modern employment is often an exercise in sacrifice; we are constantly asked to cut off pieces of ourselves for the sake of profit, or we'll lose our livelihood. Corporations and the systems that sustain them prioritize what they can extract from us, and when they've bled us dry, they cast us aside.

The film is currently in post-production.
